Dempsey Bob

Aboriginal artist Dempsey Bob carved Fog Woman and Raven sculptures for the entrance to the International Departures lobby at YVR. The smoothly carved cedar monuments were inspired by a childhood fable the Tahltan-Tlingit artist heard as a child over and over again from his mother, grandmother and the elders in his village. It’s an ancient Tlingit tale that tells the story of a woman betrayed by a raven.

Scientology Protest

As soon as I had made eye contact with this girl, I knew I wanted to take her picture. She has stunning eyes, and the face-covering she was wearing gave her a look like she could have been from some wandering group of Tuaregs in Timbuktu. Except for the fact that the number 22 bus, the one that goes right by my house, is going down Pender St. in the background.
