36?x24? Canvas Print up For Auction

A 36″x24″ Canvas Print of this shot from Tofino is up for a silent auction this Thursday night during a Charity Fashion Show at Celebrities Nightclub. All proceeds from the event go to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada I am very happy to be part of such an event, and Graham Snowden has been doing a ton of fund raising work in preparation for his first Triathlon in May, part of Team in Training, a fund raising program for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

First Wedding of the Year.

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Saturday was the first wedding of the year for Tristan and myself. We had a lot of fun being wedding photographers for the day, and are both excited about the photos we ended up with. We shot just under 1700 photos, totaling about 15 GB! There is a lot of editing to do…

It was an incredibly long day, but we had a lot of fun with Ryan and Naomi. More shots to follow, but here are a couple fun ones:

NPAC Photojournalism 2008

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

It was another amazing year for the conference, and the comments so far have been overwhelmingly positive, which makes me feel good about all the time put in on the phone and emailing trying to bring in a good set of speakers. I was running around too much to take too many photos, but here are a few I found from the weekend:

Richmond Homocide.

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

This was a difficult assignment. I went to photograph the grieving parents of a man the same age as me who was stabbed to death the night before. My only hope in photographing in these situations is to do justice to the memory of the person whose life was tragically taken away. It’s a sad, sad, story and could only give my condolences to the family for their loss. -Brett.

Current Personal Project

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

I am currently working on a project shooting film in my Hasselblad. I am taking “portraits” of peoples hands in the community to show people who are out creating, producing, working, and improving. So much of the story of someone can be told from their hands. It has made me challenge my own thinking on exactly what a “portrait” is and how there are really no rules when it comes to categorizing photographs. More pictures to follow as soon as I can get them scanned in.
