• Type of management

The most popular options are single-lever (the water pressure is regulated by raising and lowering the lever, and the temperature by turning the lever to the right or left) and two-valve (the valve is for hot and the valve is for cold water, the pressure is regulated by turning each). The first type of mixers is, of course, more convenient to operate – you can set everything up with one hand in a matter of seconds. If full sterility is required, the single-lever mixer can be operated using the elbow. But if you have a local water heater, most likely the pressure of the flows of hot and cold water is different. In this case, it is better to use a valve mixer.

Thermostats are able to automatically maintain the set water temperature. This is very convenient if there are small children in the house or you often do cosmetic procedures that require accurate temperature conditions.

For public buildings, mixers with touch and push-type controls are usually used. Such devices significantly save water. They can be installed in the apartment. The water temperature and flow rate for such mixers are pre-programmed.

  • The mechanisms:

In lever mixers, ceramic and thermostatic cartridges are used. Ceramics are great for tap water, comfortable and durable. Unfortunately, mechanical failure will require a complete replacement. The second type of mechanism is used in thermostats to fix the temperature and pressure of water.

Valve mixers are most often equipped with a ceramic or rubber crane-box – the so-called valve head.

Ceramic has a long service life, some modifications are subject to simple replacement, easy to spin. The only drawback is the susceptibility to breakage if the water is dirty and contains a lot of abrasive particles. Rubber is less whimsical, easy to repair and cheaper. However, they will have to be changed more often, especially gaskets.

  • Material:

The ideal material for making the mixer is brass. It has excellent anti-corrosion properties. This allows you to maintain the performance and pleasant appearance of the equipment for as long as possible. Brass can be coated with an additional layer of nickel or chromium, which also helps to increase the life of the product. In the premium segment, it can be bronze or gilding. Accessories are made of high-strength plastic.

A more expensive, but optimal in terms of characteristics, the material is stainless steel. It resists the effects of chemicals in the water, is environmentally friendly and not susceptible to rust. The rarest option is an artificial stone or ceramic. They fit perfectly into premium interiors, are not subject to destruction, are not demanding in leaving – on them stains from water or fingerprints are not visible.

  • The form:

The more fanciful you choose the shape of the mixer, the more difficult it will be to repair it in the event of a breakdown. If you are looking for the safest option, choose the standard – ball or cartridge mixers. Design models are most often uneconomical; they spend a large amount of water, although they look very beautiful.

  • Spout height

This parameter is selected based on the functional purpose of the mixer and the depth of the plumbing. The distance from the sink/bath to the spout should be sufficient to make it convenient to wash your hands and/or body, but not too large to minimize splashing.

Among modern plumbing devices – a large selection of products with additional functions for ease of use. For example, an angle valve connects the mixer directly to the water system. To save natural resources and our own resources, we recommend taking care of limiting the flow of water. You simply program the maximum volume of water flow on the device, and no matter how much you turn the tap in the future, the consumption will not exceed a predetermined level.
